Christa Beau, born 1948, married, two adult children, living in Halle on river Saale, pediatric nurse, now retired. Has published short stories, poems, haiku, and haibun in many anthologies (e. g. "Temptations – and not a bit afraid of influential men", "Heart over head", "Crazy about life", "Summer grass", yearbooks of haiku-heute), magazines, calendars, and on the internet. Editor of the anthology "Light and Shadow", author of the booklet "Haiku – Photohaiku" (2011). Hobbies are photography (making haiga) and painting (exhibitions in Bürgerläden, exhibitions with another painters). Member of a writing group and a painting circle, member of the DHG since 2000, six years as a DHG board member (secretary, 2nd chair), head of the Haiku Group of Halle for twelve years.

About HFGT

There are many authors in Germany, too, who like to write haiku. Yet it seems to be quite difficult to get a general idea of their works in English. And it is this very objective that we want to achieve by our blog.

In order to give at least a certain impression of the particular range covered by haiku from German tongues to a wider international audience, Heike Stehr and Ralf Bröker present haiku in English.

The both also ask haijin of some good reputation to submit three of their best haiku in English translation, a short biography, and one or two links. If any of the selected haiku was already published before the author is requested to quote its credits.

Other haiku from German tongues written in English: feel free to have a great time with Chrysanthemum, the great biannual German/English online-magazine. And: Many German haiku-writers are presented on DHG-Mitgliederseiten.
